The Partnership

Every December, the Reno Philharmonic transforms the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts into a glittering hall of holiday joy — and for years, Starsound has had the privilege of helping bring that transformation to life. Spirit of the Season isn’t just a concert. It’s a community tradition. A dazzling blend of symphonic excellence and theatrical production that brings families together to share in the warmth, the music, and the magic of the season. And for us, it’s personal.

This is Owner Nick Sorrentino’s favorite event of the year, and it shows. From the very first rehearsal to the final ovation, Nick and the Starsound team pour heart, detail, and imagination into every moment. Not because it’s required — but because we believe in what this show means to Reno. Every year, we look for new ways to expand the experience—making it more immersive, more playful, and more unforgettable.

Year-by-Year Evolution

What began as a beautifully arranged holiday performance has grown into a fully immersive theatrical celebration — and Starsound has been proud to help shape that journey. Our role has evolved alongside the vision:

  • We brought in LED video walls to create dynamic scenic backdrops behind the Philharmonic and choir.

  • We expanded the visual field with video wall columns and projection elements, surrounding the audience in motion, texture, and holiday color.

  • We engineered multi-track recording systems to capture the full detail of the orchestra, vocalists, and guest performers — ensuring a rich archive of each performance.

  • We collaborated with the Reno Phil’s production team and Pioneer Center staff to seamlessly synchronize lighting, video, and stage transitions for a show that feels as tight as it is magical.
     

And of course, we’ve embraced the surprises — like last year’s near-miss moment when an arrow, fired during a handstand acrobatic routine, barely missed our LED wall. We’re happy to report that both wall and performer are just fine — and we have complete confidence in our artists’ aim.
